Gen. Betrayus

This is a good one. I don't watch much hardball but Chris Matthews nails this one (feel free to ignore the blatant grandstanding by the senator). Apparently, thousands dead, including innocent civillians and children; a trillion dollars spent; world-wide loss of political goodwill; and terrorists lined up for decades to come and General Patreus doesn't know if this will make America any safer. Then what are we fighting for?

I do appreciate his honesty, however -- I see that the politicizing of his career hasn't completely wiped out the blunt truth demanded of a soldier. But what does he tell our current soldiers why they're out there putting their life on the line every day?
